Bollywood Movies turned Video Games

With Shah Rukh Khan himself giving us a sneak peek into cut-scenes from the Playstation version of 'Ra.One: The Game', we give you a flashback of movie-to-game promotions in Bollywood.
It is interesting to note that in Hollywood, the trend is to release a film's game version after the successful run of in theaters (Harry Potter, The Matrix Trilogy, every Hollywood action franchise ever)

Ra.One

Shah Rukh Khan has given us a glimpse of the Playstation 3 game version of 'Ra.One', only a month after news of the film-to-video game prequel of Ra.One. However, with only three months to the heavily anticipated film (SRK will reportedly spend over 175 crores on the movie's production. The G.One full bodysuit reportedly cast over one Crore rupees) 'Ra.One: The Game'

is anticipated to release just a month before the film' release in October.
A source informs that one chapter of the game will have a Kareena Kapoor avatar doing Lara Croft-ish stunts.
SRK writes: Yippeee my own personal video game...though the hair is little pointy…"

Krishh

If the stolen prequel plot from ET, the stolen costume from Daredevil the stolen love story from Spiderman and the stolen time travel story from Paycheck weren't enough of an embarrassment.

Now, imagine a dorky combination of Mario and Contra aesthetics. Now throw in a plastic-like side portrait of Krrish hopping over obstacles and kicking bad guys. That's the video game adaption of "India's answer to ET".
The shoddy amateurish quake ality makes sense when you consider that it's a fan-made game. the Krrish Game Cheats that promise "Krrish Health Unlimited with Unlimited Super Power Attacks" is almost adorable.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Zoya Akhtar’s 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' (ZNMD) lets users participate in the La Tomatina festival, an annual event in Spain that involves throwing and squashing an unlimited supply of tomatoes on friends and family all day long.

You play as Arun (played by Hrithik Roshan), Imran (Farhan Akhtar) or Kabir (Abhay Deol) and throw tomatoes on other characters to score points. Negative points for lobbing tomatoes at women.

the first 'Don' remake, a modern take on the original 'Don' (played by Amitabh Bachchan) has two versions. Race and Chase has you racing on the streets of Kuala Lumpur to capture the Don. Whereas, the role-playing game requires the player to help SRK find the disk that his Don status is a case of mistaken identity.
Heavily inspired by the film's rushes, particularly the spectacular car crashes, sky diving and fight sequences, these feature prominently in the game.
The Don game was the first Bollywood game to be launched online, and that too in for multiplayer gaming.

Love Story 2050

The spectacular flop that was Love Story 2050 (one of the biggest flops of all time, worst Bollywood debuts of all time etc), starred Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra.

Made by Rocking Pixels, the movie's garish sci-fi and embarrassing special effects offered the perfect backdrop to test out Indian gaming technology.
It was, as Rocking Pixels CEO Sanjit Daniel said: to be released as a massively multiplayer game…"

No one has heard of it, ever since.
While legendary Indian movies 'Sholay' and 'Lagaan' both have been adapted into mobile game version, Dhoom 2 was the first for-PC game.

2050' will be the second Hindi film after 'Dhoom 2' to be made into a full-fledged game. FX Labs is believed to be developing a game based on 'Dhoom 2'. Earlier, we've seen mobile games based on films like 'Sholay' and 'Lagaan'.

Ghajini

The 'dangerous man who kills people' theme is ideal for video games. Duke Nukem, Max Payne, the entire GTA franchise is based on the art of multiple homicide. Which is why FX Labs, responsible for the Dhoom 2 game also worked on Ghajini - The Game.

Ghajini's game version was India's first 3D PC action game based on a Bollywood movie. The Third Person Action game recreated movie locations, scenes and visual content from the movie for an authentic gaming experience. And, as Sanjay (dubbed by Aamir Khan), you got to kill people!

However, the game's cover feels a lot like 'Hitman' and lasts for only 15 minutes.

Dhoom 2

'Dhoom 2''s $34 million “Dhoom 2” box office revenue did nothing for the Dhoom 2 game. Titled D:2.5, the game was to be made by FXLab Studios in a collaboration with Yash Raj Films, a first-ever Indian movie to full-length PC game venture. and that too, in 3D.

Pre-launch announcements by FX Lab Studios mentioned "…international AAA quality production standards…superheat songs”.

The game was to be designed to allow users to play as their favorite Dhoom 2 characters and perform exciting missions and mini-games, based on the movie's screenplay.

While FXLabs had launched the first look at characters from the movie (who look suspiciously like the cartoon Vengaboys), the game itself disappeared.
